2016 "Bring One for the Chipper" Christmas Tree Recycling Event

Last year, our team helped recycle 460 Christmas trees during the "Bring One for the Chipper" Christmas Tree Recycling Event! The Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful Board of Directors purchased tree seedlings and our volunteers helped distribute them to over 300 citizens willing to plant a tree in exchange for their Christmas tree. Our support and volunteer service is vital to the success of community recycling efforts. If you can help, please complete the survey linked here: Bring One for the Chipper Volunteer Survey

The event will take place Saturday, January 2nd from 9am to 1pm. We will work at the Lexington Road Tag Office along with the SAPS student group, a high school level sorority.

The Conservation Fair

The Conservation Fair will be held on Thursday, January 7. This is our team's largest community event. All team members and as many parent volunteers as possible need to be present to help. I will send a volunteer list on or before December 15. I am waiting on responses from exhibitors. If you know of an organization, a business, or a group that could be a potential exhibitor, please share their contact information with me.

Here is the 2016 Conservation Invitation Slide: 2016 Conservation Fair Invitation Slide November was an extremely busy month for our team.

Winter & Spring Field Trips

Just a few notes: We are having huge transportation issues in Clarke County School District. Things have been bad, but they are at a new low this school year. Bottom line - our team cannot depend on school bus transportation. I have received bids from 3 charter bus companies requesting quotes for these 2 trips. The CCSD transportation cost and the lowest bid from a charter bus company is shown. Please think about your preference: school bus or charter bus transportation. We will discuss and make a transportation decision at the December 8th meeting. February 4th: Carter Center - Cost per Student = $15.00 school bus, $25.00 charter bus *at least 5 parent chaperones will be needed - We may take a charter bus. Details will be shared at the December 15th meeting. May 5th & 6th: Atlanta (State Capitol, Coke Museum, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, & Embassy Suites) - Cost per Student = $150.00 school bus, $180.00 charter bus *4 male parent chaperones & 4 female parent chaperones will be needed *this trip will be limited to 36 students
